VGA boxes are crap (and can be found for a lot less than $50) and look like an RF connection through an old TV, transcoders work great and can be had for anywhere from $50-100. Right now, the absolute best and simplest option for gaming on a computer monitor is to acquire a monitor that has Y-Pb-Pr input so you can use your component cables. I used dscaler for a few weeks, but it was way worse than crap as there's very little contrast.Įvery so often this question is asked but the question itself is often misunderstood. It doesn't handle interlaced coming off the xbox, so I don't know if you'll be affected by that. It's a vdigi that can handle any component input so it should work with a ps2. ![]() I've got a vga box for my xbox and it looks perfectly fine. Yet it would probably be more than acceptable for your situation. Even so, the results will merely be passable. ![]() The $50-100 so called "vga boxes" on sale are absolute crap.Ī better solution is a cheap TV tuner card (I mean, a $15-20 one will do there's even external USB versions but they're more expensive) and a program called dscaler to deinterlace. ![]() So check which games you want to play may or may not have it before you even bother hunting down the hardware unsure about Disgaea 2. That only works with progressive scan games, though, and relatively few ps2 titles support it. It's about $150-200 for a real component>vga/dvi switch.
